Dry Skin & Aging

General guidelines:

  • 2-3 x per week, use an alpha hydroxy acid exfoliating serum, such as lactic acid or glycol acid to brighten dull and lacklustre skin.
  • Only cleanse 1x per day and opt to use cream or oil cleanser to help remove makeup and impurities without stripping the skin of moisture and oil.
  • Apply a hydrating toner with soothing ingredients like rosehip after cleansing to help prep the skin to receive more moisture.
  • Use a serum both day and night under your moisturizer to boost moisture levels and keep skin hydrated.
  • Choose moisturizers that contain occlusive ingredients (like shea butter and rich oils) that will help lock in moisture and prevent dehydration.
  • Get into the habit of giving yourself a facial massage every night using a fatty acid rich oil, like seabuckthorn or camellia. This will help boost circulation, tone, and bring oxygen and essential nutrients to the skin.
  • Wear sunscreen daily! Most UV exposure is incidental (while in the car, sitting by a window, or walking to and from places).
